- Front Range Kettlebell Fitness is composed of workaday folks who recognize how important physical fitness can be to our emotional, spiritual, and intellectual health.
- We realize that we live in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, and we celebrate that fact by working out in this fresh, albeit thin, air of Colorado Springs. A 45-minute outdoor kettlebell routine is so much more enjoyable than jockeying around crowded machines with the gym rats at the local health club or fitness center
- We know how precious and limited our time is in each day; as such, our workouts are limited to 45 minutes of High Intensity Interval Training
Your Instructor: Dave is career military, a certified AFMPT trainer, and has been working with kettlebells since the early 2000s. In his military career Dave learned the importance of staying physically fit; for men and women in uniform being fit can very much be a matter of life and death.
The stakes may not be as high for much of the civilian populace, but the fact remains that one's physical fitness very much has an effect on his or her quality of life.
And by no means is fitness a young person's game. In fact, as we get older it becomes even more imperative to stay in shape. "Use it or lose it," the old saying goes. At our workouts, we'll "use it," alright--and then some.
Our routines involve kettlebells and many other functional fitness components that will leave you gassed--and counting down the hours until our next grueling workout!
Why Us?
The single most important answer to the great question of why you should choose Front Range Kettlebell Fitness for your workouts is "efficiency."
A pound of fat compared to a pound of muscle. Which would you rather lug around?
Unfocused, unregulated fitness routines are ineffective and can lead to your becoming disillusioned.
In the gym you may have to wait for a squat rack or bench press or treadmill to become available--another exasperating experience. Soon you've given up on working out altogether.
At Front Range Kettlebell Fitness, focus is our forte. We use interval timers to closely monitor all aspects of our workout, keep our heart rates up and the sweat flowing, and give you a fat burning workout in 45 minutes.
Use heavier or lighter weights--a range of which are always available--to determine how taxing your workout will be. One thing you won't be doing during your workout with Front Range Kettlebell Fitness is cooling your heels.
Another reason to choose Front Range Kettlebells is accountability.
It may be cliche, but it's a fact that group accomplishments are almost always greater than individual accomplishments. By working out in a group setting, by encouraging others and deriving motivation from the encouragement of others, you'll achieve fitness results that you simply won't achieve on your own.
One final answer to the question of "Why us?" is answered in the first two words of our name: "Front Range."
Have you looked around and noticed how breathtakingly beautiful our little portion of Colorado is?
Yes?
Does the same awe-inspiring sense occur to you while you're waiting for the pec machine to become available at your local chain gym?
I didn't think so.
As we said earlier the air may be thin here, but its fresh and exhilarating.
Soak it up!
Just Kettlebells?
The kettlebell is a pretty primitive-looking device (a theme we at Front Range Kettlebell Fitness reiterate with this primitive-looking site!), made of cast iron and ranging in size from 9 lbs to 70 lbs or more. But despite its simplicity, the variations of exercises you can perform with it are generally limited only by your creativity, and the exhaustion it can induce is, quite literally, breath-taking.
If you've never used one, I'll show you how. They've been my primary means of training for over 8 years.
At Front Range Kettlebell Fitness, we'll start with basic moves such as the deadlift, the one-hand swing, the two-hand swing, then move into the clean, the snatch, etc.
As you get more comfortable with handling kettlebells, we'll work on other exercises, like through-the-leg passes, hand-to-hand drills, shoulder presses, and more explosive movements such as the overhead toss, pictured to the right here. As they say out on the range, "Incoming!!!"
If you have no idea what those terms mean and what those exercises entail, don't worry--I'll demonstrate them for you. Check out this YouTube video of me running through just a handful of kettlebell exercises:
If you don't have a kettlebell, again, no worries--I've got plenty.
If you like it and want to buy one, I'll suggest several vendors (Dragon Door, Muscle Driver, and others), and the pros and cons of each.
At Front Range Kettlebell Fitness we'll also use other types of fitness "hardware:" slosh pipes, sand bag training, cargo straps, maybe old tractor tires, home-made club-bells, etc.
And we'll mix in plenty of bodyweight/plyometric stuff into the routines as well.
"Hmm, that sounds like CrossFit," you say. Well, not really. CrossFit is another group for whom I have a lot of respect (I also respect their marketing abilities). But no, we're not related in any way to CrossFit--though CrossFit studs and studettes are welcome to join us any time.
