What Is A Kettlebell?
"What is a kettlebell," you ask? Good question, and one which I asked myself when I first read about them a number of years ago. "What is this thing?" I wondered; and what is all the hype about? A range of people from different walks of life--fire fighters, law enforcement, martial artists, and special ops folks--were singing their praises, which was originally described to me as a cast iron bowling ball with a handle.
I did a bit of research, and before long I found myself making the plunge and purchasing my first one. The rest, as they say, is history. Now, of course, kettlebells are becoming quite popular. Celebrities are raving about grueling kettlebell routines; they've been featured in O Magazine; you can now even buy them at Target. They're no longer the province of extreme fitness buffs and meatheads; men and women of all walks of life now include them in their conditioning routines. Of course, plenty of people now recognize them when they see them, but they still don't know what to do with them (which is why a lot of health clubs that have bought them use them as oversized door-stoppers). There's an old adage that knowledge is power; in our case, this adage operates at two levels: learning will lead to doing. And doing will lead to strength and fitness levels you've never before been able to achieve!
