I was cruising through my 30-something years, thought I was in decent shape.... I started hearing and seeing buzz about kettlebells, found Dave on-line, and figured I'd give it a whirl. All I can say is "Wow!" The rigorous kettlebell and functional strength routines Dave puts us though at every workout will challenge every fiber of your body. I don't think I had ever been so sore as I was after that first workout with Dave. But if you can grind through that initial difficult stage and teach your body to adapt and overcome, the results will be phenomenal. I've been a surfer all my life. As I've gotten older I've realized that I simply can't do all the things on the water that I used to do as a kid. But I wasn't about to take reduced performance levels as inevitable. I began training with Dave and in pretty short order I saw carry-overs in other aspects of my life. The most notable was increased stamina levels while out in the water. One of Dave's adages is that "lethargy begets more lethargy." As a day laborer, I need all the energy I can get. I know too many guys who grind out a day's work and go home to park it in front of the TV. That ain't me! Strangely, the effort Dave pushes us to in our workouts charges my batteries instead of drains them, and leaves me with the surplus energy I need to do a lot of the fun things I still enjoy so much.
