Sandbag Training:
Do It Yourself!

When I first heard about sandbag training I was intrigued. When I found out how much the head honcho sandbag training guy wants for his gear I was flabbergasted. Such a reaction always gets me working on a better, less expensive alternative...

I'll be honest, I grossly underestimated how difficult this process would be. When you're slamming 100 lbs of sand onto the ground, these bags take a beating! I have tried more sandbag substitutes than I ever would have imagined when I first began this odyssey: gym bags, aircrew bags, sea bags, you name it. None of them held up to the violence; before long they'd all be bursting at the seams--literally!

Well, after much searching, I found a winner. These bags are made of heavy-weight cotton canvas, and are the perfect size IMHO: they measure 19" x 12" x 11". They contain a snap flap which covers a full length zipper, as well as reinforced webbing. Depending on how you fill your bag (a more specific instruction forthcoming on THAT topic), you can get about 100 lbs or so in this baby.

Sandbag ON!
